Extract article file name or first sentence for article title?

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to take an article that's set into a variable, and extract the first sentence, with I suppose regex(?) or another feature I'm missing?

Or is there a way to get it from the file name? Ideally I would like to extract the first sentence and put it to a variable for posting a title.

I keep forgetting about the regex tool, but I am seeing it will be invaluable.
