how to remove trailing white spaces from a variable

I have data in a variable coming from a table, and I put it into the variable, but at the end of them, there are white spaces. I found out how to remove the white spaces in the middle of the names and at the end of the variable, but I only want to remove the white spaces at the end of the variables or from the table before going to the variable. Can someone help me?
