Extended spintax syntax error

When I'm using this spintax syntax [+{_|-}+Red|White|Blue {1|2}] I get weird results such as [+-+Red|White|Blue 1] or [+_+Red|White|Blue 2] and not the expected output.

I declare the spintax value by using the variables processing box and I see the -} is red so I think it tries to interpret as part of a variable declaration {--}

What would be a workaround?

Variable macro is not the issue...
You sure extended spintax was enabled?
