FTP upload speed

Is there anyway to increase FTP upload speeds?
My customer Content folder have 2500 text files to upload. So the FTP upload is slow, I have to wait 30 minutes to finish this step

FTP speed is set to maximum in ZennoPoster. But if you upload files one by one to different directories, the process will be slow as the program will have to open and close ftp connection every time. We recommend to upload directory with files at once, it will be faster.

best way for fast upload to ftp, pack all files to zip archive. upload archive and unpack on host with php script help
