Is running many open browsers ok? Will some browsers completely stop?

I understand running many browser threads will slow the pc down but does it interrupts the automation process and makes internet explorer show the connection error screen?

I don't see what you mean. Every thread need about 100mb of RAM and also it depends on CPU and network capacity.
