Recording Feature Fails to Work All the Time

I have experienced an issue with the Recording feature not working on version 7.7.1.0 all the time. The feature stops working if I navigate to another feature on PM 7.7.1.0. When I click on the Recording button, it illuminates, but it fails to capture any actions I take with the mouse or keyboard. There is no error message that pops up. It simply fails to act. The only way for me to get it to work is to completely close the program, then start over.

How do I resolve this?
