What do those even do? What are they for?

Add them to the Address of the server proxy checker. Add to click apply.

They check proxies for multiple parameters like anonimity and etc.
It's faster to check proxies with a server-side script. Checking through your local machine isn't always reliable.

Why don't you implement the following:
Make a kind of torrent strucure, like have a common proxy list and let the cloud of users check proxies? It should be easy to achieve reliability in the cloud...
